Everybody’s a train wreck in their own very special way. But there’s something wildly freeing about someone who’s unapologetic, who knows they’re a wreck and doesn’t even try to hide it, just bulldozes through life.
~ Melissa McCarthy
You’re probably looking at that quote and wondering what the heck it has to do with the Tarot Death card… Am I right?
The Hallmark Tarot Death card always makes me do a double take and go, ‘Aha, so it’s not The Devil.’ Whenever I see chains in a Tarot card, my mind goes to the Devil archetype for fairly obvious reasons.
What I see in this card is dying to or killing anything that binds us and prevents us from feeling free, so in that sense, the Hallmark Death card combines the meanings of The Devil and the Death cards.
The quote seems a good fit (and also I’m a huge Melissa McCarthy fan) because it captures the gist of what it means to be emotionally free. We simply can’t be if we try to hide any aspect of who we truly are, including the messy dark side.
So what needs to die today in your life so that you can be completely free? What are you trying to hide from the world? How can you take what you are trying to hide and turn it into something that can help liberate yourself and others?
