RWS Tarot Symbols – 2 of Swords

Hello my friends,

Long time, no see!

I’ve had so many people sign up to follow this blog in the past few days that you have collectively shamed me into blogging on here again. Hope you’re proud of yourselves haha! 😀

Yesterday, I started a new Tarot challenge on my main blog. It’s focused on the symbols in the RWS Tarot cards. You can read all about it HERE. Or check out the challenge on Instagram HERE.

As you can see above, today’s card for the perpetual #RWSTarotSymbols challenge is the 2 of Swords. I thought to myself, ‘Why not drag this card over to my Tarotize blog and give it a quote or two?’

I’ve matched the 2 of Swords with quotes in the past but since the focus is on the grey ground or floor in the card image, I want to focus on that aspect of the card today… so how about,

Civilization is fragile and highly ambiguous. To hope in ourselves would be a big gamble.
~ Christiaan Mostert

Or maybe…

The first request of civilization … is that of justice.
~ Sigmund Freud

2 of Swords is Moon in Libra, denoting an emotional need for justice and harmony. I connect the grey floor in the 2 of Swords here with the grey floor, throne and pillars in the Justice card.

In the Justice Tarot card, the grey stone work symbolizes civilisation, structure and organisation.

Where else in the Tarot do we find grey stone flooring, pillars and seats? Answers in the comments below!

Love,

Lisa
